Prof. Haizhou Wu, Director of the AI-Meat Lab at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), has been appointed Associate Dean of HZAU Xiangyang Campus. In this role, he will oversee research team development, research project coordination, technology transfer and commercialization, international collaboration, and initiatives integrating education, research, and talent development.
Prof. Wu’s research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence with food science, particularly in understanding meat quality deterioration, discovering and designing bioactive molecules, and developing innovative preservation technologies. Before joining HZAU, he conducted research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the United States and in Sweden. He also serves as Director of the Hubei Technology Innovation Center for Meat Processing and Editor of Food Chemistry.
Since joining HZAU in 2023, Prof. Wu has actively promoted interdisciplinary research, international talent recruitment, and industry–academia collaboration. His team has established partnerships with companies including CP Foods and Xiaomi, advancing research innovations toward practical industrial applications.
In his new role, Prof. Wu aims to strengthen interdisciplinary research, expand international partnerships, and accelerate technology transfer, while fostering closer integration of scientific innovation, talent development, and industry needs at HZAU Xiangyang Campus.
