The Hubei Technology Innovation Center for Meat Processing has been officially approved by The Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, with Prof. Haizhou Wu of Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) appointed as its Director.
The Center is jointly established by HZAU, CP Foods (Hubei), and other industry partners to advance technological innovation, interdisciplinary research, and industry–academia collaboration in meat processing, quality improvement, and preservation technologies.
To support the Center’s development, HZAU has committed RMB 6.6 million in dedicated funding and allocated approximately 1,000 m² of laboratory and office space in the main building of the Interdisciplinary Research Center at its newly established Xiangyang Campus.
The AI-Meat Lab, led by Prof. Wu, became one of the first research teams to establish a presence at the new campus. This milestone provides a strong foundation for developing advanced research facilities, attracting international talent, and accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into practical industrial applications.
The Center aims to strengthen collaborations among academia, industry, and research institutions, contributing to innovation and sustainable development in the meat processing industry.
